What Is the Point of a Proxmox Backup Server?
The point of Proxmox Backup Server is to give you fast, space efficient, verifiable backups that integrate natively with Proxmox VE, rather than bolting on a generic third party backup tool that only partially understands your virtual environment. Because it deduplicates data at the block level, repeated backups of the same virtual machines take up far less storage than a traditional full backup approach, and restores are typically much faster.

How Do I Backup My Proxmox Environment?
In practice, most businesses running Proxmox VE should have backups running to a separate Proxmox Backup Server instance, ideally in a different physical location to the production environment, so a single site issue can't take out both your live systems and your backups.
